    Interrupt Gate-Keeping Patterns
    At most small, medium, and large businesses, there is at least one person who is responsible for taking and screening calls before they reach those individuals who make managerial decisions. The individual who takes these calls, often referred to as a gatekeeper, is likely to follow a particular pattern when answering calls to determine if a caller’s message is worth passing on. By interrupting the gatekeeper’s normal conversational pattern, you can increase your chances of getting into contact with the decision makers of that business.

    Put Together a Short Sales Pitch
    Consider putting together a short sales speech you can use when initially talking to a decision maker. This presentation should be under one minute and serve as an introduction to your product or idea.

    Contact Decision Makers Directly
    Attend industry events where you may have a chance to briefly meet with decision makers. Utilize the short speech that you have prepared to explain your idea and land a formal meeting with them.

    If you are a business owner or sales associate, you may be frustrated with your low numbers of sales in relation to the amount of presentations or calls that you make. Improving your closing ratio can save you time and help you increase your profits. Take a look at the information below to learn how you can improve your close ratio.

    1. Do Not Become Discouraged
    When you begin speaking to a potential customer or client, you may be faced with a negative response early on. However, do not be discouraged. The potential customer may be taking a safe route with little knowledge of your product or service. Even if a sale seems unlikely, continue communication with the prospect and build a relationship. 

    2. Ask Questions
    Your sale will be easier after you find out key information about your prospect's business. Ask open-ended questions which require detailed answers so you can learn more about the needs and expectations of your prospect.

    3. Listen 
    During the sales process, be sure to listen more than you speak. Carefully consider everything that the person says and make it clear you are listening. Talking continuously about your product or service can often make your prospect lose interest early on. Generate natural conversation during your pitch. 

    4. Present an Optional Close
    When you are ready to close the sale, consider presenting two options. In other words, ask the potential customer which product choice he or she would like to select, rather than asking if he or she does would like to purchase anything at all.
